Financial Wellness it’s not ‘MISSION IMPOSSIBLE’
June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness month. This is something that the Employee Financial Wellness team are passionate about. This year’s theme for Ireland is ‘MISSION isPOSSIBLE’ and letting all men know that the ‘Action Starts with You’.
For 2022 men’s mental health month we are reminded that we often set unrealistic targets that if we don’t achieve leave us feeling negative and can often affect our mental health.
This gives us the perfect opportunity to speak about how financial stress and mental health are linked.
As part of our programmes, we conduct surveys with the workforce. These surveys not only provide us with insights into key areas that employees are struggling with. The results from these surveys show us stark results:
- 92% of employees report being worried about their finances either some or all of the time.
- 72% of employees reported that finances are a weekly concern
- 20% report having financial worries every single day.
These results paint a picture of just how many of us are struggling with our finances or have very high levels of concern when it comes to trying to handle them. Employee Financial Wellness provide financial education to employees helping to remove the stress and worry that stems from their finances. Let’s face it we all have so many things to stress and worry about it’s best to try to shorten the list!
By being proactive you can help not only elevate the financial stress you are under but also help prevent it from reoccurring.
How can we help with financial stress?
We help with financial stress by providing people with education on their finances. Having a deeper level of understanding and guidance around your finances can help you make better decisions and elevate some of the stress that is often felt when dealing with our finances.
A way to prevent financial stress from happening in the first place is by identifying and planning for upcoming financial events that need to be addressed, understood, and targeted. These events can be split into short-medium- and long-term events and should have the correct plan in place to best meet each goal.
If you are prepared for it then this can help eliminate or at least lessen the potential stress.
