1 It’s the thought that counts!

Make out a clear list and check it twice, when it comes to buying gifts the thought you put into your gift-giving can mean more than the money you spend. This year has been financially tough on lots of us so even the smallest of gestures can mean more than big expensive gifts.

2. Be aware of the amount of money you have coming in.

Without being too serious in the midst of the Christmas season, a good thing to do would be to keep an eye on how much you are spending. Then to put that into perspective, think about how much you earn and then how much is left after tax before you overextend yourself.

3. Enjoy the spirit of Christmas

Christmas isn’t all about money. Focus on the simple ways that you can spread joy this year, sometimes the best way can be through small meaningful gifts rather than big expensive gifts. You can find clever ways to make donations or help charities as a gift on behalf of loved ones.

4 Spend time, not money.

Spend more time with those you love rather than spending more money this year. Make sure to take time for yourself this year and most importantly ensure to spend time with the ones you love. A great way to keep well over the holidays is to get out and about. This could be by going for a walk while waiting for your dinner to be ready or just grabbing a coffee with someone, there are lots of little ways to keep yourself healthy.

5 Give credit where credit is due

Try to spend what you have, rather than going into Christmas debt. It is best to ensure that you go into January without debt.

Most importantly use this time to slow down and take a breath. First and foremost, make sure you take time for yourself, it’s important that during this busy season that you make sure while you are busy taking care of everyone else that you are also slowing down and making time for yourself.

Enjoy this time to spend with the ones you love.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!
