Our Story: Empowering Employees through Financial Education

How We Started: Empowering Employees Through Financial Education

Employee Financial Wellness (EFW) was founded with a clear mission: to improve the financial wellbeing of employees through education, not product sales. The company was born out of the personal experience of our CEO, Nick Lawlor, who spent a decade working in the financial services sector in Ireland. During his career, including the period of the Celtic Tiger economic boom and subsequent crash, Nick saw first hand how the traditional financial services industry operated. The focus was often on selling financial products rather than truly addressing the financial wellbeing of clients.

Witnessing the stress, anxiety, and poor financial outcomes that stemmed from this product-centric approach, Nick realised there was a critical gap in how financial literacy and education were being delivered. He believed that true financial wellbeing should be centered around empowering individuals to make informed financial choices, not on pushing products. As a result, Nick set up EFW with the goal of promoting financial wellness through education, aiming to reduce financial stress and improve long-term financial health for employees.
